A checklist to help prepare for a journey or holiday.

 

Planning your journey or holiday gets you in the right frame of mind to enjoy your trip to the full, and it helps avoid problems on the way.

Here is a checklist to help with this.

Time Zones 

If you are flying across several time zones and use insulin, you will need to plan the effect on your insulin regimen. 

Information for Travelling Companions 

It is useful if your travelling companions have some understanding about diabetes, e.g. recognising a hypo and what to do - how much will depend on the individuals.

  • *Antihistamine e.g. Piriton. A decongestant For Colds, Stop Itchiness From Bites
  • *Antidiarrhoea Tablets e.g. Immodium

  • *Syringe Kit - IV Giving Set, Syringes, Needles
  • Motion Sickness Treatment
  • Vitamins / Iron Tablets

Conversion table 

Blood sugar can be measured in either millimoles per litre (mmol/l) or milligrams per 100 millilitres (mg%). USA. Some EU countries use mg%, take a copy of the conversion table - it may be useful.
